The ascension ceremony was complicated but grand. When the ministers looked at the new Empress walking over, they were thoroughly shocked.

The gold imperial robe was embroidered with vivid and twisting dragons that rose from the bottom. Each dragon was carefully crafted and looked three-dimensional, as if it could fly into the sky at any moment.

The size was just right, and every aspect of the dress fit Qingruo perfectly. It wasn’t clear whether the imperial robe contributed to her overbearing aura or her confident expression.

There were not many people that could embroider such a majestic dragon robe in such a short amount of time. It was very possible that He Weiwen had planned this for quite a while.

Qingruo was not blood-related to the imperial family. After she ascends the throne and changes the nation’s name, the Qin dynasty will have officially ended.

Since there was no ancestral shrine, there also was no need to pay respects.

The conventions for the new emperor include paying tributes to the heavens, praying for blessings, and then granting amnesty to the rest of the world.

The left prime minister has been very unhappy for the past few days. That eighteen-year old granddaughter that he had raised had brought less to the table than he had imagined, not to mention the problems in his residence. But there was another storm coming: the new Empress that ascended the throne.

The Left Prime Minister stepped forward and cupped his hands in a bow, “Your majesty, this subject wants to say that Your majesty ascending is truly fortunate. The matter of reform, Your Majesty…..”

He Weiwen squinted for a moment. He and the Left Prime Minister were not even on the side. The imperial hall was silent, with only the sound of the minister’s words echoing around the hall.

This subject? This old fellow, He Weiwen secretly cursed. He directly interrupted the left chancellor’s long spiel, but the former’s posture remained relaxed and gentle. “Your majesty, this subject thinks the issue of reform needs to be thoroughly planned. There needs to be an official appointed to supervise the area … “

The imperial headdress on Qingruo’s head was too heavy, so she propped her chin up against the armrest of the imperial throne. She lazily listened to the Left Prime Minister’s speech, but when He Weiwen interrupted, she turned her gaze to look at him. Many of the officials began to reconsider their decision on agreeing with the Left Prime Minister’s memorial. She raised her hand to signal for the officials to be quiet, and then glanced at He Weiwen with arrogance. “Zhen knows what to do.”

Her smile was lazy and unbridled. “Although General He’s proposal is incomplete, Zhen sees that the best of your other proposals are only at this level. Just go with General He’s plan then.”

She said it reluctantly, as if she disdained the officials below.

The people below knelt down, shouting long live the Empress and whatnot. However, in their minds, the officials were thinking that the Empress couldn’t tell good from bad, especially towards what He Weiwen was planning. The little emperor also held this attitude towards He Weiwen before.

He Weiwen stood there silently, smiling.

Qingruo narrowed her eyes at his leisurely appearance. She patted the armrest but hissed in response. She hit the chair too hard and hurt her hand.

However, she endured the pain and hid her hand behind her back. Gritting her teeth, QIngruo asked in her originally arrogant tone, “What? General He has something to say about the imperial edict?”

He Weiwen easily saw her little movements just now when she rubbed her hand behind her back. He bent over and smiled respectfully, “This minister has no objections to the edict, Your Majesty.”

After morning court, breakfast was prepared in the inner palace. Qingruo went directly there to change clothes, and the only changes made in her gold garments were in the shapes and the sizes of the embroidered dragons.

He Weiwen had already sat down at the table by the time she had finished changing. The maid brought over a basin of water, and Qingruo washed her hands. She asked impatiently, “Is the General’s Manor too poor to even afford hot water?”

He Weiwen did not reply, but his gaze showed a hint of danger.

Qingruo sat down at the main seat. Her sleeves were a little wide, so she began to eat with one hand holding her sleeves. He Weiwen had already started eating, and half of the food was already gone.

All the memorials were handled by He Weiwen because Qingruo was too lazy to even ghostwrite after him. She purposely never visited the General’s manor and only stayed in her palace.

Qingruo went inside for a nap while He Weiwen dealt with the memorials. He waved his hands, and all the servants in the inner palace retreated quietly.

She slept heavily at night. No matter whether it was during the night or the afternoon, sleep was her routine. If there weren’t any loud noises or large movements, she would not wake up.

He Weiwen finished reviewing several memorials and estimated that enough time had gone by. He stood up and walked inside.

The curtains of the imperial bed were closed, and the figure inside was blurry. He Weiwen stood by her silhouette for a while before finally opening the curtains.

Originally, he didn’t want to sleep, but there were too many things to do within the past few days. He Weiwen lay beside her, and their breathing tangled together little by little. Her breathing left a lingering wetness, and the slight sound of her breathing seemed to linger in his ears. Their surroundings were quiet.

He Weiwen closed his eyes and wanted to rest for a moment, but ended up falling asleep. He only awoke due to someone pinching his nose.

Frowning as he woke up, He Weiwen found Qingruo smiling at him. She did not let go of his nose, and instead began wiggling it left and right.

When one is tired, their sleep will be very deep. He Weiwen just woke up and his body was still in a dormant state, so he had no strength in his body.

He looked at her sparkling eyes and self-indulgent smile before hugging her. He pressed her body directly against his chest. There was another audible noise, provoking her. Qingruo let go of his nose and hit his chest and shouted, “He Weiwen!”

“En.” He Weiwen responded to her. He lowered his chin to kiss the crown of her head, “Don’t be angry, sleep with me for a while.”

She didn’t give up, and flung his arms away so she could stand.

He Weiwen wrapped her arms loosely around her again, this time closing his eyes and letting her throw a fit. Suddenly, he opened his eyes again, and his hoarse voice sounded dangerously, “Lay down.”

“Hmph~” She voiced her disdain as she faced him, “No.”

He Weiwen tightened his arms around her before lifting her legs so that they wrapped around his body. “Don’t move, I’m hard.”

“…” The word hard implied that some hot-blooded young man was a little too excited.

Qingruo’s face was stiff. For a moment, the expression on her face was one of utter shock. She avoided his eyes and replied in a hoarse voice. “Oh … why didn’t you say so earlier?”

Still blaming him. Saying so earlier? Can this sort of thing be said earlier? He Weiwen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. His body continued to swell as he held her, making it almost unbearable.

His voice softened, “Okay, I’ll tell you earlier next time.”

Qingruo was still propping up her head with her sweaty palms against his chest.

He Weiwen’s voice was gentle and coquettish, “Don’t be afraid, lean on me.”

Qingruo snorted, and then really did obediently lean on him. Her cheek lay against his chest, and heat radiated from her body, causing her palms to sweat just now. There was no place to put her arms,so she moved her arms upward to circle around his neck.

How cute.
