The Inner Palace Tale of a Villainess Noble Girl - Chapter 2.1
The seasons pass by and summer–
“And now, Lady Diana. From this day forward, you are welcome to use the Red Rose Room.”
For what it’s worth, Diana ended up in the inner palace, and I’ve heard that she was given high treatment for nothing. She entered the room with a wonderful hem-handling, lamenting inwardly, and became the ‘master’ of the room.
In the Kingdom of El Grand, the rank of “Earl” is high in its own right. The “Duke” who descended to the vassals after the royalty, the “Marquis” who has been serving the royal family since the beginning of the country, and the important fiefdoms. The “Earl” is in charge, the “Viscount” is in charge of the distant regions, and the “Baron” is the last. This made him the middle of the pack, but in reality, there is a huge wall between the Earl and the Duke. There is an unspoken class among the “Earls”, and the most important one is the Earl of Crester, the highest rank among the “Earls”, actually the “Marquis”.
And the Earless of Crester, the most important one, is the highest rank among the “Earl” ranks, actually the “Marquis”. A noble in the House of Nobility must refrain from it. It was a family that had no such status. For the Kingdom of El Grand, which has a strict status system, this is a house that was truly an exception.
A princess who had such a family of her own would not be treated with disdain in the palace of the rear court–.
“What do we do now, Princess? ’The Red Rose Room’ is, in essence, a candidate for the queen, right?”
“You’ve been treated better than expected… It’s simply a matter of family order. I’m sure that some marquis’ family must have been present at the palace. I don’t like it when it’s this obvious.”
At present, the palace has nearly fifty princesses of all ranks, marquises, earls, viscounts, and barons. It must be a big place. Diana, who didn’t like to waste anything, can’t help but feel the unproductiveness of this place.
“It’s useless, the inner palace. Sure, it might be good for a quick exploration of His Majesty’s preferences, but even then, it’s a waste of time to gather people and, don’t you think it’s too much?”
“As you say. With fifty of them, it would be better for His Majesty to find His Majesty’s preference first, or for His Majesty’s energy to be exhausted…”
“If you spend every night in a different bedroom with a different woman, it’s unlikely you’ll have children if the timing isn’t right. And I’m sure you will.”
It’s common knowledge in the Crester family that timing is the second most important factor in a woman’s ability to have a child, next to love. If you think about it, the idea that the more you hit, the more likely you are to get hit, the worse it is. There is in fact, no place where children are more difficult to be born than in a normally functioning inner palace.
“Even if they did have children, whether they were male or female, or if they were boys, they would be the next king… purely for the sake of being a descendant. It’s not even a place to be charitable. I still don’t think it’s a very practical place.”
“Lady Diana is very kind…Oh, I’m going to make you a cup of tea.”
“Thank you, Rita.”
Rita was the only maidservant Diana brought with her from the Earl family. They are close in age, have been raised like sisters to each other, and knew each other better than anyone else. When the decision was made for Diana to enter the palace, she begged her parents and brother to let her take Rita with her. She did. Although she was told it wasn’t a good idea to take a servant from her parents’ home, her parents eventually relented. They bowed their head and asked for their daughter’s safety.
“I’ve heard that high-ranking ladies should bring a lot of maids from their parents’ homes. I heard that she was stopped in a hurry by a woman in charge of the palace grounds as a result of her being a member of the “postmistress”.”
“Of course. There are only fifty more vassals in the inner palace and if they are rushed in with their maids, the palace’s budget will be cut short. Wow. Even the treasury is not inexhaustible.”
“I know his majesty must be worried about that too, wasn’t he?”
To minimize the burden on the state as much as possible, all preparations for Diana’s entry into the palace were made by Crester. The house was in charge. They didn’t receive any assistance from the state. Her parents and brother, who got everything done without a hitch, are very capable indeed.
……..only to find that this act, for some reason, has made the “Earl of Crester” more and more notorious in the world. There’s nothing they could do about it.
I was enjoying the tea Rita made for me when the door to my room opened. Rita asks the question.
“Yes, who are you?”
“I’m the administrator of the grounds of the Imperial Palace, the Head Mistress. May I come in?”
Diana urged her to open it with her eyes and Rita ran to the door. Diana stood up and pulled her chair back and waited by the desk.
“Come in, please come in.”
The woman who entered was a plump woman wearing a dark blue robe over a servant’s dressing gown. She stops as soon as she enters and stares at Diana intently.
“What… what is it?”
“! No, I beg your pardon.”
