I’m a Villainess but the Capture Target is too Abnormal - Chapter 6
Translator: Feng YouYue
“This is the guest room. Though, we were just here the other day.”
With that said, Raid Nocturne smiled troublingly in front of the guest room. But I’m troubled, too.
Two weeks since the silence of hell. For some reason, the invitation from the Nocturne family that had arrived at our mansion had invited me back to the Nocturne residence.
About a week ago, the Nocturne family sent me a letter, which I opened with the expectation that “I don’t want to get engaged, I’m sure,” and it said, in short, “Will you come to the house again?” And when my father received the letter, he said, “Well, we’ll see you soon.” He replied, and in light of both parties’ schedules, we are now in the present. Things are unfolding fast. I can’t keep up with it.
Since the existence of the target of capture called Raid Nocturne had began to appear, the sudden sequence of events and overly forceful movement of things, such as an engagement actually was almost decided and a visit to the mansion, is a way to keep the “Raid Nocturne has a fiancé” set-up intact. I have to doubt that the rational things in the world are working so as not to break the setting.
And today, when we arrived at the mansion, mother and father had an adult talk with Mrs. Nocturne and flowed off to another room like vegetables to be sorted in a factory. And because of that, I’m alone with Raid Nocturne again today.
By the way, Count Nocturne left when he had something he couldn’t miss, and it was my parents versus Mrs. Nocturne. “I’m sorry for inviting you,” she apologized, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that she wished she wouldn’t invite me forever if she could, and I felt a twisted sense of guilt.
…… But I don’t know what the intentions are at all, even if I think about it. Why would you invite the suspicious daughter, Mystia Arlen into your home after that silent face-to-face meeting?
“Where do you want to go next, Mystia?”
While walking down the corridor, Raid Nocturne laughs happily. Again, I thought we were going to have tea together, but with Raid Nocturne’s words, “I’ll show you around the mansion today.”
I’m currently being guided around the mansion, rather than wandering around. The day I live in this mansion will never come even while I’m being guided about, and I don’t need to know anything. I just want to know the door that goes out.
And this smile on his face, as if he doesn’t remember the last time they were in a hellish silence, is one of the factors that contribute to this fear. I guess it’s because of his generous heart, but I’m afraid of what I’m afraid of. Right now, I’m afraid of that kindness of heart. It’s even scarier because I know the moment when this kindness will eventually turn into hatred.
“Can’t think of anywhere you’d like to go?”
Raid Nocturne laughs at me. Yes. I swallow the words “anywhere but hell and prison,” and laugh back vaguely. Every time I see him, I feel like my vague laughing skills are improving.
Or is he really forgetting about the last meeting?
Even if it was only two weeks ago, people shouldn’t be creatures who can forget things so easily. If it’s a meal two weeks ago, or a first meeting with a suspicious engagement person, how could that memory not be strong and memorable? While walking down the royal palace-like corridor, I softly stare at the back of Raid Nocturne’s walking.
…… Raid Nocturne, who saw the silence of hell as a “shame” because he met his fiancée for the first time, and couldn’t speak honestly in front of his parents, and with his natural good nature, he couldn’t say anything bad about his fiancée, even if he did, and vaguely misrepresented it as “Mystia, she was nice,” and then his parents misinterpreted it as a “nice person” – a misunderstanding that led to a misunderstanding?
As I walked behind him and thought, Raid Nocturne suddenly stopped. I almost hit him, but the distance was wide and I didn’t make contact. Raid Nocturne looks back and says, “This is my father’s room,” and points in front of me with his finger. There was a door saying that it was a magnificent room of the owner of the mansion. The door is just like the door of the King’s Room. However, what is worrisome is the expression of Raid Nocturne. He’s staring at the door with a somewhat regrettable, sad expression.
“Well, my dad doesn’t come home very often, so I don’t have to remember that.”
Raid Nocturne murmured softly. The tone of his voice sounds like there was a part of him that he doesn’t want to be touched right now, in short, it sounds like he’s worried that he’s stepped on a landmine.
But I don’t remember there ever being an event with Raid Nocturne and his dad, and it could be that they had a fight this morning and it was awkward or something.
“Oh, I forgot to show you around the Great hall, this is it.”
Raid Nocturne grabbed my hand, turning on his heel and heading back the way he came. His tone of voice and expression changed to one of concern for me. We walked on for a little while, feeling uncomfortable, and then he led us into the great hall.
“This is the Great hall. We will have a dinner party next time, so let’s eat together here.”
Raid Nocturne turns to me to tell me I can look around, and he urges me to go towards the back with his hand gestures. It’s definitely the Last Supper. The one that will kill me. So in my heart, I trembled with his words and looked around the room.
Then, the white and gold-based furnishings come into view.
And in the center is a fireplace that reeks of incidents that might be capable of cremating a human being. Despite the white ground, there’s no soot in the fireplace, which is probably because it has been cleaned properly. There is a space above the fireplace where a portrait could be hung, which is also white and looks like a piece of canvas.
Perhaps that’s why, mysteriously, I can’t help but worry about the space. It’s actually painted to hide the corpses, and it’s suspected to have a hidden door, but it’s really an empty space. It’s a blank wall. But other than that space, there’s nothing but flowers and decorations hanging on the walls, as if the place is open to the public.
“We’ve been eating here for a while.”
As I stared at the empty space, Raid Nocturne opened his mouth, perhaps concerned about the silence. The words, “Have you been ……?” When I respond questioningly, he replies somewhat forlornly, “My father is busy, and my mother sometimes doesn’t eat, and they both usually take their meals in their rooms.” He replied somewhat forlornly.
“Is that so?”
“It’s the same whether you eat together or not.”
Speaking of his father, he has a strange look on his face, as if he were blaming him, as if he were lonely, but not only that. Raid Nocturne is a ten-year-old boy. He probably misses that his father is not home often.
Still, I’m worried about the empty space. I can’t help but stare at it as if I were devouring it. Is this the reason why I feel so uncomfortable in this room? It’s not that I wish my family’s portrait was displayed in the room, but I feel uncomfortable, as if I had been burglarized and when I returned home, but I don’t know what was stolen.
No, I’ve never been burglarized before.
I wonder what it is, like a fatal oversight. But the signs of something emerging from this space shouldn’t actually mean that something is sealed off. And it’s not that kind of game in the first place.
“That person is tough on himself and others. He’s busy, so it can’t be helped.”
I feel something caught in Raid Noktor’s words while trying to strike a match. It’s not his mannerisms, words, mood, or even his voice, but the words themselves. Like I’ve heard of it before, that’s how it felt.
-It’s fate, so it can’t be helped.
Yes, this is it.
“What’s going on?”
Raid Nocturne is suspicious of me staring at the wall as if I were going to bite into it. I was convinced by his expression when I saw the blue eyes as if a glass was open to the sea. Ah yes, those were the words Raid Nocturne said in front of his mother’s grave in the game. “It’s fate, so it can’t be helped,” he said sadly.
Well, I see, that’s where I heard the words.
“I’m sorry, it’s nothing.”
When I made an affectionate smile and faked it, Raid Nocturne didn’t pursue it deeply. Then he removed his gaze from me and put his hand on the door of the hall, urging me to move on. I headed toward him as he urged me, and suddenly stopped.
…… In front of Raid Nocturne’s mother’s gravesite?
A gravesite is where I die, isn’t it? With that in mind, the game’s event footage is projected as if it were projected in front of me. An event where the protagonist visits his mother’s grave with him.
At one point, Raid Nocturne abruptly misses school. The protagonist is curious and heads to the Nocturne’s mansion, and just as Raid Nocturne is on his way to leave for somewhere, the story goes on and they head out together. And that place they arrived at was a cemetery. He was going to visit his mother’s grave on the anniversary of her death, and our heroine was to accompany him. And on the way home after visiting the grave, Raid Nocturne talks about it in a matter-of-fact way. He tells us what his mother was like and the reason for her death. Mrs. Nocturne was murdered when he was ten years old. By her own nephew, who held an unattainable love for the Madame and turned the fire of that love into one of hatred. His mother was no longer with him at the start of the game. She was already dead.
In that very space that is vacant right now, there should hang a portrait of Mrs. Nocturne, Raid Nocturne’s mother. And the protagonist, who had been to Nocturne’s mansion before that event, learns there that the woman in that portrait is Raid Nocturne’s mother. That’s why I felt a sense of discomfort. Because the portrait that should have been there was not there.
And I felt strange that the standing picture did not exist.
But Mrs. Nocturne is still around. She is alive today.
–He said that they were going to be happy together when he killed my mother. In front of the theater.
In a cool voice, yes, Raid Nocturne had spoken at her graveside. My mother, he said, was murdered by her crazy nephew. He was ten years old in front of me right now. That meant that within a year his mother would be killed. That date, I believe, is right around this time of year.
The day when he visits his mother’s grave, the anniversary of his mother’s death,
At the moment I muttered, my consciousness went away as if the thread had broken.
